How soon do you need the flowers to preserve them?
The sooner the flowers get to us the better. Ideally, the flowers should arrive at our location within 3 days of the event. The fresher the flowers, the better the final appearance of the preserved flowers. It is important to keep your bouquet as cool (not frozen) and moist as possible prior to drop off or pick-up.
Do not freeze the flowers. Wet the oasis by pouring a little water into the bouquet holder or wrapped wet paper towels around stems. Place the bouquet in a plastic bag. Blow air into the plastic bag and then close the bag. Place the bag in a refrigerator or in a cooler lined with bags of ice at the bottom.
How long does it take?
The process normally takes 6 to 12 weeks. Freeze drying flowers is labor intensive and time consuming process. However, it gives the most natural looking preserved flowers.
What is your flower preservation process?
We use freeze drying method to preserve your flowers. Upon receiving your flowers, we will photograph and tag your bouquet to keep track of your flowers through the entire preservation process. The bouquet will then be disassembled and each bloom is re-hydrated individually. Once the blooms are re-hydrated, they are pre-treated using non-toxic, bio-degradable, water based polymer solution. These pre-treatment solution help your flowers to retain more of their natural color, be more durable, and more shatter resistant after freeze drying process. The flowers are then ready to be freeze dried in our freeze dryer.
Once the freeze drying process of your flowers is completed, the flowers are post treated to help protect the dried flowers from humidity and UV light. The post-treatment also adds durability, flexibility and shatter resistant to the dried flowers. Using the photograph of your bouquet, we will re-design your flowers in your selected display frame, so it resembles your original bouquet.
What flowers can be freeze dried?
Almost all types of flowers freeze dry well. Roses are the best one to freeze dry. Flowers such as bouvardias, chrysanthemum, and lilac do not freeze dry well. The final appearance of the freeze dried flowers depends on the age and condition of the fresh flowers prior to freeze drying. The colors of the flowers may change slightly after the freeze drying process. Depending on the types of flowers, the color may lighten slightly or become richer and deeper. With time, the hues may soften and acquire more of an antique look.
Do I need to select a display frame right away?
It is recommended that you select a display frame prior to freeze drying. If you are unable to select a display frame prior to delivering your flowers to our location, we do ask you to make your final decision on display frame within 4 weeks. We do however require a non-refundable deposit of $150 at time of flower drop-off/pick-up.
How much does it cost?
Each floral keepsake is unique and customized to suit your taste and budget. The price varies depending upon your display type, styles and sizes. Bridal bouquet typically cost $300 to $550. Smaller frames are available for bridesmaid bouquet, boutonniere, and corsages or if you choose not to freeze dry the whole bouquet. How to care for my floral keepsake?
With proper care, your floral keepsake will stay beautiful for a very long time. Use only cotton towels to clean glass or Plexiglas (acrylic) to prevent scratches. When cleaning glass and Plexiglas (acrylic) surface, do not use cleaner containing ammonia, since it will leave a film and it will pit the Plexiglas (acrylic) surface. Keep your keepsake away from direct sunlight, high humidity area, and rough handling.
